Powder Report
Did you hear? It snowed a little bit 🙂
And with the sun returning at least until Wednesday night, we’ll have to work just a bit harder to find those secret stashes. A few tips for your search:
Mammoth just re-opened today, so you can find tons of powder early this week.
Northstar reported the most snow around the basin, and the good stuff there stays good.
Heavenly will be opening new terrain. Check their website (or X: @HVConditions) to track new lift and run openings.
Pay attention to wind. A strong South wind can bring tons of new snow to North-facing slopes…which is basically all of Heavenly.
Take that AIARE course you’ve been thinking about forever, and get into the backcountry!

Local Flavor
Having some family in town was the perfect reason to finally check out Yosemite Axe Throwing. And honestly?
We all had a lot more fun than we were expecting. And for those not partaking in dry January…yes, they have beer :)

Around Town
Sierra-at-Tahoe opened yesterday! They only have a few lifts spinning, but they’re opening new terrain quickly! Keep an eye on their trail + lift status as their team keeps working hard.
In case you missed it, City Manager Joe Irvin is taking his talents to Malibu, having served the South Lake community since 2020. At the time of writing this, there is no word on a potential replacement. Joe held that position through a whole lot of challenges—COVID and the Caldor Fire to name a couple—and will be greatly missed!
