Powder Report

The powder report is, ironically, that there is no powder to report. And there’s a whole lot more sun in the forecast. But looking ahead, a few positives:

  1. More relatively cold mornings mean you’ll have a longer window for quality skiing, and the snowpack should generally hold up. Start with some NV-side corduroy runs 👌

  2. Mott, Killebrew, and other Nevada side runs were heavy in less tracked areas last week. After this weekend, they might not be pristine corn, but let’s be glad they’re no longer mashed potatoes.

  3. Skiing is always better than not skiing, and with a lake view, it certainly could be worse.

So get out early, get your corduroy turns in, and if you can, work from NV ➡️ CA

Local Flavor

Smoking the perfect brisket, rack of ribs, or pork butt requires a few key ingredients: time, a dash of love, and years of experience. And Sonny’s never skimps on any of these, nor do they skimp on the portions.

If top notch smoked meats, killer sides, and great drinks sounds like your jam, pay them a visit. And hey, if it’s going to be 50 and sunny, make lemons and enjoy a crisp beer on their beautiful patio.

Sonny’s always delivers

Around Town

More trails are coming to the basin, thanks to the USFS’s approval of the Basin Wide Trails Analysis Project on January 9. The project will add 45 miles of new multi-use trails in the Lake Tahoe Basin and reclassify 111.2 miles of existing trails to allow Class 1 e-bikes. Most notably, this project will make a single-track ride around the lake all the more possible.

The main goals of this project are to (1) improve connectivity between communities, (2) reduce overcrowding on popular trails, and (3) provide more sustainable recreation options while keeping environmental impact at a minimum. The great people of TAMBA will be instrumental in helping to build these trails, and you can read more about all of it here.

Just for Fun

Living in a mountain town, the last thing you need is another distraction from work. But I’m going to give you one anyway. In case you missed it, Jackson Hole setup a live cam on Corbet’s Couloir. When you decide to tune in determines whether you’re getting Wipeout vibes or Red Bull TV vibes.
