Powder Report

I've spent years finding the right words to describe what makes Tahoe special. After this past week on the mountain, I'm ready to just throw out a string of emojis and call it a day. No words.

It genuinely had it all. Storm powder riding Sunday, bluebird powder laps all day Monday, plenty left over Tuesday, refill laps on Thursday, and bluebird riding over the weekend.

And that’s a dang good thing, because we’re back to highs in the mid-upper 40s for the whole week. So get out early, catch some corduroy, and do yourself a favor and get some warm weather wax on your skis or board!

The outlook 😬

Local Flavor

There are plenty of great spots around South Lake to grab a coffee and get some work done, or even cozy up by the fireplace. And there are even more spots to grab a beer or wine and share some laughs with friends.

But why settle for one or the other? Paddle House Brews is always a favorite, with fire rings outside and a cozy atmosphere inside. Like for example, if you got stuck in South Lake and didn’t want to detour 8+ hours back to the bay:)

Around Town

Good news from TRPA's December meeting: Van Sickle Bi-State Park is getting two deed-restricted housing units for park rangers, plus a maintenance shop. The Board also expanded where accessory dwelling units (ADUs) can be built basin-wide, now allowing them on properties smaller than one acre, which brings consistency across the basin and opens up more affordable housing opportunities. Having rangers live on-site at Van Sickle means less commuting and better stewardship of one of our favorite hiking spots!
