Powder Report
Life holds many mysteries, none more confounding than storms seeming to show up on the weekend. But hey, we’re not complaining!
Despite some rain this week, the snowpack held up, and riding conditions were pretty decent outside of a rainy Wed-Thu. And now, we have a trifecta:
10” and 12” of snow in the last 24 hours at Heavenly and Kirkwood, respectively, and more overnight.
Holiday + weekend rush is slowing
We have colder conditions all week!
This should be an all-time week of riding. Time to cash in that sick day!

Local Flavor
In South Lake, the Venn diagram of “great for tourists” and “great for locals” is pretty narrow. Himmel Haus is one of those places that sits comfortably in the middle.
Whether you’re a full-time local or just visiting for the weekend, it consistently delivers the best beer selection in town, a killer menu, and multiple atmospheres to choose from.

Around Town
Because it was New Years, there wasn’t too much to report around town! So we decided to share something a whole lot more fun:
For anyone familiar with Palisades, you’ve probably heard of the Eagle’s Nest (also called McConkey’s). It’s a rugged-looking face that rises above the iconic KT-22 lift. With a pitch of over 65 degrees, rocks always lurking below the surface, and a mandatory air at the end, it’s something that 99.9% of skiers wouldn’t dream of riding.
And this last week, Isaac Kaufman opened it up in spectacular fashion, throwing a ridiculous front flip off the face. If you’re going to watch one local ski video this week, we’d highly recommend this one! Powder Mag writes more eloquently about it here, where you can also watch the video.
